A Jet-powered car anyone?

Well I guess Tonight Show host, Jay Leno, isn’t just anyone, and he has the means and influence to get General Motors to design and build a car of his dreams. Mr. Leno, who is said to have an impressive collection of over 100 cars in his ‘garage’, can now add the GM EcoJet to his collection. Looking like something from a sci-fi movie, the EcoJet is a 650 bhp supercar powered by a Honeywell LT-101 turbine engine that puts out approximately 400Nm of torque. No performance figures have yet to be released, but the car is being showed at SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas. As for the ‘eco’ aspect in the car’s name, the EcoJet uses bio-diesel as a propellant. The engine sits in a modified Corvette Z06 aluminium and magnesium frame, and the body is made from carbon fibre and Kevlar. At the moment, Mr. Leno’s EcoJet is a special one-off model, but there is nothing stopping GM from putting it into production as a Cadillac 2-seater.
