Audi Q5 Spy Photo In!

With the BMW X3 and Mercedes’ new GLK class coming soon, Audi is aiming their new Q5 right at them. The Q5 will be built at Ingolstadt factory in Germany, and is based on the same A5 and upcoming A4 platform. Production for the Q5 kicks off in 2008.

This new platform means that Audi is able to fit in almost ALL their new, FSI-equipped four and six cylinder engines. Our foreign counterparts will even get high efficiency diesels fitted in, perhaps the 2.0-litre TDI and the 3.0 litre V6 TDI.

The 4.2 litre V8 might also be included for the S-lineers. All Q5s will have an updated Quattro all-wheel-drive system and a choice of six-speed manual, or the new seven-speed DSG, as well as goodies like hill-descend and adjustable air suspension.

The Q5 will remain a 5 seater, coming without the third row of seats.
