Borneo Motors Singapore Turns 100!

Borneo Motors Singapore (BMS), distributor of Toyota, Lexus and Hino, celebrates its 100th anniversary this August under the theme “100 Years Strong.” The milestone marks a century of growth alongside Singapore, showcasing BMS’s legacy in driving innovation, sustainability, hybrid leadership, new model launches and strategic partnerships tailored for Singapore.

Since 1925, BMS has shaped Singapore’s automotive landscape. With the Toyota franchise secured in 1967, sales quickly surpassed 3,000 vehicles in two years, leading Toyota to rank among the top three by 1971 and become Singapore’s best-selling brand by 1981.

It took Lexus under its wing in 1992. Lexus pioneered the world’s first luxury hybrid with the RX 400h in 2005, followed by the LFA supercar in 2011. Continuing its pursuit of craftsmanship and performance, Lexus launched flagship models like the LS and LC Convertible in 2021, and in 2023 expanded its electrified lineup with the RZ, its first fully electric model.

Its portfolio was broadened in 2006 by becoming Hino’s exclusive distributor. It later strengthened its presence with the revamped Toyota World and Lexus Boutique showrooms in 2013, following earlier showroom and service centre milestones. Most recently, both showrooms were upgraded in 2023 and 2024, expanding to over 23,600 sq ft.

From now to 29 December 2025, BMS will host the BMS100 Museum at its Toyota and Lexus showrooms. The exhibition chronicles its 100-year journey, blending history, innovation and community while showcasing BMS’s impact on Singapore’s automotive industry and commitment to sustainable progress.

BMS, together with Singapore Polytechnic students, will feature a cutaway Toyota Corolla Cross highlighting its Self-Charging Full Hybrid system. An interactive display will show how energy flows between the petrol engine and hybrid battery, enabling over 60% of journeys on electric power. This initiative reflects BMS’s 100-year commitment to innovation and nurturing the next generation of automotive talent in Singapore.

Watch out for a lineup of cars that mark this celebration in the coming months. First up will be the Lexus LBX Urbanite limited to 100 units. The new Toyota Noah Hybrid and facelift Corolla Cross Hybrid will also be launched, along with a special BMS100 version for the latter. To celebrate its centennial, BMS is launching a limited-time lifetime assurance campaign for selected Lexus and Toyota models, providing 100 months of engine and transmission protection, hybrid battery warranty, servicing and road tax rebate.
