Beep, an innovative IoT startup, has achieved a significant milestone by introducing the largest electric vehicle roaming (eRoaming) network in Southeast Asia. This network encompasses more than 1350 charge points and is the result of a collaboration with 11 operators based in Singapore. Notably, this group includes some of the city-state's most prominent operators such as SP Group, ComfortDelGro ENGIE (CDG ENGIE), and Charge+, along with strategic contributors like QuickCharge, MNL Solutions, and Go by City Energy.

Since its inception in 2018, Beep has been on a mission to revolutionise the conventional vending machine industry by introducing a cashless transaction system through its IoT platform. Beep partnered with the Singapore Government to provide support during the pandemic, and building on this experience, in 2021, Beep launched Voltality - an eMobility platform designed to create seamless and hassle-free charging experiences for both businesses and drivers alike.

In line with its vision of establishing a comprehensive ecosystem, Beep has made remarkable progress, integrating charging stations, payment services, and vehicles into its platform. Noteworthy is the fact that, in June 2022, Beep inaugurated the region's maiden eRoaming pilot involving five operators. The startup's rapid advancements over slightly more than a year underscore the strong industry support for this initiative.

A pivotal aspect of Beep's platform is its role as a universal translator. This eliminates the need for operators to navigate through complex integration processes. In a departure from the norm, Beep doesn't offer a proprietary Voltality charging application. Instead, it provides a customisable website or an Application Programming Interface (API), enabling vehicle manufacturers, charging operators, and fleets to seamlessly integrate charging connectivity into their existing interfaces and applications.

Worth highlighting is the early adoption of this network by influential players such as the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Centre in Singapore (HMGICS), Tribecar, EVFY, Singapore Electric Vehicles and Quantum Mobility. This has provided them with access to a multitude of collaborating operators, facilitating mutually agreeable terms of engagement.

Concurrently with the network launch, Beep has successfully concluded its Seed Round funding, featuring lead investors like GGV Capital and Wing Vasiksiri. The funding round also witnessed participation from NUS Technology Holdings (a wholly owned subsidiary of NUS), SUTD Venture Holdings, XA Network, and other distinguished angel investors. The raised capital will be employed to enhance technical connectivity and realise the vision of deploying the largest roaming network in Southeast Asia. Beep's expansion roadmap extends to Malaysia, Thailand and beyond. A noteworthy aspect of this expansion is Beep's intention to maintain close collaborations with additional charge point operators, vehicle OEMs, and fleets to collectively grow the network.
