Driving Home the Message of Road Safety
DirectAsia.com is behind a national campaign to help put the brakes on inconsiderate driving across Singapore.

In line with this,DirectAsia spoke to Singaporean motorists about what frustrates them most. Their findings have helped inspire the Road Courtesy Campaign 2012 aimed at promoting better driving habits.
The initiative, created by Directasia.com, is supported by Singapore Road Safety Council, Singapore Police Force and Traffic Police Singapore.
The nationwide campaign entitled 'Courtesy Counts' calls on local motorists to become proactive in helping rid the roads of discourteous drivers.
The launch event on Saturday, 30 June was attended by senior officials including Mr Cedric Foo, Member of Parliament for Pioneer Constituency & Chairman for the Government Parliamentary Committee (Transport) who was Guest-of-Honour.
The impressive launch at Toa Payoh Hub included a flag-off for a convoy of taxis carrying this year's road courtesy messages and an exhibition on the campaign.
This year's campaign centres around five key words: 'Space', 'Respect', 'Patience', 'Foresight' and 'Considerate'. These messages will be featured on five specially designed car decals which will be available free to all motorists at Shell petrol stations islandwide.
Simon Birch, CEO of DirectAsia.com, said: "The Courtesy Counts Campaign is at the very heart of our key message to promote safety on our roads. So, we're delighted to be the lead sponsor and creator of such a worthwhile initiative. We're always trying to find ways of helping to improve road safety on Singapore roads including offering cheaper insurance to safe drivers. This Courtesy Counts Campaign is another great way for us to get our message across in a lively and engaging way."
As part of the campaign motorists are being invited to give their take on what frustrates them most when it comes to driving habits in Singapore via www.facebook.com/sgroads. Here, an online photo-sharing activity is also available. Forty photograph entries will be selected to win S$80 petrol voucher each. One lucky winner will win a S$500 petrol voucher.
The Singapore Road Safety Council will also work with Traffic Police to continue with the annual 'Spot-the-Courteous-Motorist' programme for the three-month campaign ending 30 September 2012.
The campaign will be further sustained by ads on transit vehicles likes buses and taxis as well as radio and print.
