Esso, Mobil 1, and Red Bull Racing's Daniel Ricciardo celebrate 'The Art of Racing' in Singapore
SINGAPORE – Red Bull Racing Formula One™ fans were treated to a unique visual spectacle that saw Red Bull Racing driver, Daniel Ricciardo teaming up with a well-known local urban artist, Zul Othman (ZERO), to complete a live art installation at “The Art of Racing” event organized by Esso Singapore.
The Marina Barrage was transformed into a giant art gallery which displayed the works of three urban artists - Zul Othman (ZERO), Raihana Abdul Rahman (AraiKreva), and Candice Phang (Puffingmuffin) – who partnered with Esso Singapore to design and create edgy car decals in the weeks leading up to the finale. Participants who dressed up their cars with vinyl body decals were invited to the exclusive event where they got a chance to see Aston Martin art cars created by AraiKreva and Puffingmuffin on display. At the same time Red Bull Racing Driver Daniel Ricciardo worked with local artist ZERO to put the finishing touches to a third Aston Martin that had been completely transformed into a piece of art as a tribute to racing.
“The Art of Racing campaign is a great way to celebrate the synergy that artists and race drivers share”, said Zul Othman, one of the most renowned visual and urban artists in Singapore who was awarded the 2013 Young Artist Award by the National Arts Council. “Every piece of art I create is a showcase of my passion and dedication to my craft and an F1 driver brings the same commitment to deliver the best performance he can every single time he races.”
Raihana Abdul Rahman, who is an artist, designer and illustrator that graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, also said: “Most people would not easily make a connection between art and Formula One racing but this campaign embraces and demonstrates the dynamism, determination, and skills that both disciplines require. I am very happy to have been given the opportunity to showcase my creativity and interpretation of what this new partnership between Esso, Mobil 1, and Red Bull Racing means leading up to another iconic Singapore night race.”
Attendees at the event also got to celebrate their passion for racing and were invited to contribute in the creation of a giant mural which was fully unveiled to reveal a specially-designed Tthe ‘Art of Racing’ logo.
“Art is meant to be enjoyed by everyone – seeing people come together at the event to create the mural and enjoy the art displays is a special experience leading up to the excitement of the upcoming race weekend”, said Candice Phang, who is an artist and illustrator with a background in architecture from the National University of Singapore. “By working together with local artists and giving us a platform to promote our work, Esso, Mobil 1 and Red Bull Racing have exemplified the meaning of partnership and collaboration though this campaign.”
Daniel Ricciardo also handpicked the winner of the best dressed car at the event. The lucky owner, Stanley Chua, 39, was visibly overjoyed when his name was called out and walked away with an exclusive gift pack consisting of Esso Synergy fuels vouchers, a Mobil 1 lubrication package and car care vouchers, Red Bull Racing merchandise and an invitation to attend the 2017 Formula One Singapore Airlines Grand Prix in Singapore.
Mr. Yap Peng-Ann, Asia Pacific Retail Fuels Marketing Manager, ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, said: “We strive to provide our customers with quality products and the best fueling experience. Through the Art of Racing campaign, we hope to share the excitement and energy that the Formula 1 event brings. We are glad to have the opportunity to engage our customers in a meaningful yet unique way that blends urban art and motorsports.”
