F1: Jolyon Palmer to drive for Lotus F1
With Romain Grosjean moving to Haas for 2016, Lotus needed to find a 2nd driver to pilot their 2nd car. Whilst both parties have remain tight-lipped thus far, it is understood that current Lotus F1 reserve driver, and 2014 GP2 champion Jolyon Palmer, will occupy the seat vacated by the Haas-bound Frenchman. Team Boss Gerard Lopez said "We've seen Jolyon's hard work and talent in the way he has approached his role. He is a really popular choice for the team.” Lotus, which switched from Renault to Mercedes powerunits for this season, is currently undergoing restructuring works, in anticipation for the Renault takeover next year. The E24, Lotus’ 2016 challenger, will be built around next season’s Renault motor.
