F1: Marussia resigns Chilton for 2014
Marussia resigns Max Chilton for 2014! The Russian-owned but British-based team made the announcement on Saturday, and he will drive alongside Frenchman Jules Bianchi this year. The 22 year old Briton first drove in Australia last year, and his best result is 14th at Monaco. He is also the only rookie in the history of the sport to finish all races in a season. Graeme Lowdon said that the team’s decision to retain Chilton is to ensure a stable driver lineup in a time of drastic changes in regulation. He also believes that Chilton gets better with more practice, evident in his Max’s history as he starts out mediocre, before gaining experience and becoming a force. The announcement means that those dropped from F1 at the end of 2013 will have less chances to obtain a drive, for only 2 seats remain. With drivers such as Paul Di Resta without a seat in 2014, will we see them back in F1 in the near future, or will they find refuge in other categories? Only time will tell.Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
