F1: No rush to replace Riccardo

Franz Tost, team principal of Scuderia Toro Rosso, has said that the Italian team is in no hurry to find a replacement for Daniel Riccardo. Riccardo is bound for sister team Red Bull to replace fellow Australian Mark Webber who will leave F1 in favour of Porsche’s efforts in LMP1. Riccardo’s current teammate, Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne, will be retained by Toro Rosso for a third season in 2014. With the success the team achieved with their two young stars, Tost has indicated that they will take their time to choose from a variety of Red Bull junior drivers to fill the seat. Currently, Red Bull has a number of talented young drivers under their care, with Felix da Costa being the most experienced. The Portuguese has won multiple races in Formula Renault 3.5 and even tested for Red Bull during the young driver’s test this year. The other 2 drivers on Red Bull’s radar are GP3 drivers Carlos Sainz Jr and Daniil Kvyat. They too were given slots to drive the F1 cars at the same test.Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
