F1: Wolff to drive at FP1 in Silverstone
For the first time in 22 years, a woman will drive an F1 car in an official Formula 1 session. Williams development driver Susie Wolff, is set to pilot the new FW36 around Silverstone, and Hockenheim. That will not be her only opportunity to drive the new turbo-v6 Williams though; she will be given a full day of running during one of 8 in-season test days. Wolff, a former DTM driver, has driven a Williams F1 car several times before. She ran in the young driver’s test held at Silverstone in 2012, completed an experimental programme in a 2011 FW33, and did a straightline test as well. She also drove an FW33 on an episode of Top Gear. Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
