GP Batteries Int'l Ltd, a member company of Gold Peak Group abd EVermont Inc, jointly unveiled their latest Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle(PHEV) showcasing better performance, improved energy saving and increased environmental friendliness delivered by this new electric vehicle concept at the Society of Environmental Journalists' 16h Annual Conference in Burlington, Vermont, USA. The conventional hybrid electric vehicle integrate both a combustion fuel engine and en electric motor as their driving systems to save fuel. However, due to the small capacity of the battereis installed in the HEVs, the distance that can be powered by pure electricity is very limited. To address this issue, a 30Ah GP Nickel Metal Hydride(NiMH) battery pack was selected to replace the existing 6.5Ah battery pack in a Toyota Prius, thereby achieving an additonal 25 miles emission free driving distance from one full charge. Users can recharge the battery pack anywhere & anytime when vehicle is not in use. As electricity is cleaner and cheaper than gasoline both consumer and the environment can benefit from the PHEV concept. Claim of 90 miles per gallon is easy to achieve in an urban cycle. It takes less than 3 years to repay the conversion expenses for a PHEV based on the current price of gasoline. The battery pack typically lasts for longer than 5 years.
