Honda announces new model - Honda Freed

Developed under the concept of "Freedom to create the perfect lifestyle", the Freed features Honda's original low-floor and low center of gravity technology to achieve a compact body size that makes it easy to maneuver through city streets as well as a spacious cabin that enables adults to sit comfortably in all three rows.

Honda developed this vehicle with the goal of creating a minivan that is comfortable and easy to use for every passenger, and that offers new value by enabling customers to fully and freely utilize this vehicle in activities that meet individual lifestyle - from daily transportation to leisure trips.

For the Singapore market, Kah Motor is currently working to launch this model tentatively in the second half of 2009.

This model’s initial development is for the Japan Domestic Market, and hence all models sold there are equipped with a continuously variable transmission.

Singapore’s Honda Freed will feature the same 1.5L i-VTEC engine and a 5-speed automatic gearbox, like the latest Honda Jazz.

Honda R&D has already concluded that just like the 2009 Honda Jazz, the 5-speed automatic is more suitable for use in Singapore. The 5-speed automatic will provide greater dynamic performance and better overall fuel economy especially when the vehicle is cruising above 70km/h.
