Honda is recalling Fits sold throughout several states in the US due to a situation where melting snow water can leak beneath the carpet and corrode wires for the Occupant Detection System (ODS). This system enables the car to detect if a passenger is sitting in the vehicle and arms the airbag.

However, if the wires are corroded, the system will deploy the airbag even if a child is in the front seat, leading to a life threatening situation.
