Hyundai's Latest Tucson
The TUCSON, star-performer compact SUV from Hyundai has come a long way since it hit the roads in 2004. What started off as a dull-looking utilitarian vehicle with rudimentary features has evolved into the a sleek, sporty road hunk fitted with premium functions that was prevalent in luxury cars. And it gets better!
Hyundai upped the ante with the 2.0 litre Tucson spearheading through the compact SUV segment. Meanwhile, the new turbocharged 1.6-litre T-GDi engine now comes with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission which delivers a responsive drive of up to 175-bhp. The torque kicks in smoothly at 1500 rpm and carries on to 4500 rpm without any lag. The turbocharger features low-inertia turbo-spooling response characteristics and an electronic waste-gate control for more precise control of manifold pressure. Internally, piston-cooling oil jets ensure cooler piston temperatures for enhanced engine life.
Taking a look inside, the Tucson's interior is made sophisticated yet uncluttered. It is now longer and wider in roominess than previous generations. The driver's seat now offers 10 different adjustment positions to fit body shape and posture, delivering maximum comfort and ease for daily use.
Other offerings that are usually reserved for luxury lines include:
-Smart Power Tailgate,
-Blind Spot Detection,
-Down-hill Brake Control and Hill-Start Assist Control; and
-Electronic Stability Control.
In an overlap crash test conducted by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the United States of America, The Tucson is the only vehicle in the small SUV category to receive good ratings for both driver and passenger.
The Hyundai TUCSON is available in 4 variants, a 2.0-litre Diesel, 2.0-litre Petrol, 2.0-litre Petrol with Sunroof and the new 1.6-litre Turbo (available in Q4 2016).
