The legendary Jeep Wrangler has demonstrated its continued success as a serious off-roader after scooping another major honour – 4x4 of the Year, Extreme category.

The award comes from specialist publication 4x4 Magazine, whose panel of expert judges put a four-door version of the US off-roader at the top of a list of extremely capable competitors, including the Land Rover Defender and Lada Niva.

The judges praised the Wrangler’s awesome off-roading capability, style, and equipment.

“The modern Wrangler offers a cracking all-round package for the 4x4 buyer. The three-door version is best left to true hardcore individualists, but the way-more-practical five-door version is definitely worth a closer look,” says Hils Everitt, editor, 4x4 Magazine.

“There's a choice of manual or auto, and equipment such as leather wrapped steering wheel with cruise control, Uconnect Bluetooth and climate control. For the second year running, it’s the all-round package and value for money that means it out-scores rivals to take our top spot.”

“It’s well known the world over, but still it’s great to see the Jeep Wrangler being recognised by experts for what it does best – extreme off-roading,” says Nigel Land, director, Chrysler and Jeep in the UK. “There’s lots more to come from Wrangler, which we are looking forward to showing our customers in 2011.”

With its ‘go anywhere and do anything’ approach, Wrangler offers a unique combination of world-class off-road driving, fun, everyday convenience and versatility.
