Kia Pro-Cee'd(s) production in Slovakia
Kia Motors have started putting together for the masses, the new Pro-cee’d at its Slovak production site six weeks ahead of schedule, so dealers can have the sporty three-door hatchback before year-end.
“It passed all quality controls, so why not?” Kia Motors Slovakia spokesman Dusan Dvorak said about the October 25 start of production. “Sales will start in early 2008 and we wanted to get it in dealerships before Christmas.”
The Pro-cee’d is the third variant of the lower-medium Cee’d, joining the five-door hatchback and the station wagon. All Cee’d cars are built at the Kia assembly plant in Zilina, Slovakia. The facility also makes the new-generation Sportage SUV.
Kia launched the Cee’d in December 2006. The company says it has orders for 100,000 units of the five-door hantachback and station wagon models for next year.
