Local news: buying guide this week
Prices of COEs have been relentlessly increasing but our guide here proves that there are still some good buys to be had after the price adjustments this week:

Mini Cooper Cabriolet - $142,800 (-$9,000)
The entry-level topless Mini is for fun people who want more of the sun. It might not be the best looking small convertible but the fun to drive factor and premium feel makes it a fine choice. At $9k cheaper this week, it should be even more appealing.
Suzuki Swift 1.5 - $73,500 ( -$5,300)
The range topping five-door Swift is a significant $5,300 more affordable than before despite the more expensive Cat A COE. The Swift might be more than half a decade old but it doesn’t feel or look aged in many areas.
Mazda3 1.6 HB - $96,100 (-$4,400)
It’s been a year since the second generation 3 made its debut but it still looks contemporary and fresh. The hatchback five-door model is sportier than the four-door hence its slightly higher pricing. At $96,100, it seems pricey for a 1.6-litre car but it is well equipped and has many other virtues.
Mazda3 1.6 - $90,100 (-$4,400)
The saloon Mazda3 is more affordable by the same amount as the hatchback. The saloon is for less sporty types and makes for a very practical family car. It’s Ford Focus based running gear means it’s a nice and pleasant drive as well.
Proton Savvy 1.2 - $59,999 (-$3,000)
The price of this zippy small Malaysian has been reduced to just under $60k, which means you would have saved $3k compared to last week.
In addition to the above-mentioned models, you can also look forward to no change in prices for Honda models in Cat A. which means you can get good offers for civic 1.6, City and Jazz models from Kah Motor.
