Local News: COE Results for February
February’s Certificate of Entitlement (COE) bidding is out.

February’s Certificate of Entitlement (COE) bidding is out. The results of this round showed a fall in all categories except motorcycle premiums, however, the second round showed a sharp increase in all categories.
Cat A COE has dropped by $3,000 from $40,123 to $37,124 while Cat B COE has dropped by around $5,500 from $58,910 to $53,400, continuing the downward trend which has started since the second round of January’s COE bidding.
However, on the second round, COE premiums rose across all categories. The most significant rise was on Cat B, with a rise of $8,600. Cat A saw a rise of $5,875. The open category saw the smallest rise at $3,111.
Starting this month until July, the COE quotas will be reduced. Although the first round showed a drop in COE prices despite the lower quotas, the drop is expected as demand for new cars drops during Chinese New Year. The rise in prices in the second round is in tandem with what industry experts believe would happen.
