Local News: Kallang Sports Hub Road Improvements
Land Transport Authority (LTA) will be embarking on a series of road works in the Kallang area to improve the overall road connectivity and expand the capacity of the road network in the Kallang area.
With upcoming developments in the Kallang area such as the Singapore Sports Hub, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will be embarking on a series of road works in the Kallang area to improve the overall road connectivity and expand the capacity of the road network in the Kallang area.
As part of the improvement works, LTA will be widening stretches of Kallang Road, Sims Avenue, Geylang Road, Sims Way, Mountbatten Road and Fort Road. LTA will also widen eight traffic junctions in the Kallang area.
A new vehicular underpass will be constructed at the junction of Nicoll Highway, Sims Avenue and Guillemard Road to improve the overall flow of traffic at this junction. As part of the improvement works, LTA will also be building the necessary road connections with the Sport Hub, which is slated for completion in 2014.
Construction is expected to start in the first quarter of 2012 after the tenders are awarded. The road widening and junction improvements are expected to complete by 2014 and the construction of the new vehicular underpass will complete by 2016.
