Local News: Red Bull Racing races down Orchard Road

Former Red Bull Racing driver David Coulthard brought busy Orchard Road to a standstill literally today, as he performed some high revving wheel burning stunts in the RBR running show car before a crowd of more than 50,000 spectators lining an 800m stretch of the world famous thoroughfare.

Said the Scotsman: ìI enjoyed performing on one of the worldís most glamorous shopping strips today. The street was very smooth and suitable for the speed of the car. The turnout was impressive and I would definitely love to drive in Singapore again.

The Red Bull Speed Street Singapore event came hot on the heels of the similar-named show run in Kuala Lumpur on 3 April, which saw Coulthard entertain a peak period shopping crowd along Jalan Bukit Bintang, the Malaysian capitalís main shopping street by giving a
demonstration of the awesome power of a Formula 1 car against the unusual backdrop of megamalls and 5-star hotels.

The Red Bull Speed Street Singapore show run followed in a similar vein with the Scot racing down the stretch of Orchard Road starting from the ION Orchard/Marriott Singapore in a showcase which lasted close to an hour.

The public witnessed manoeuvres such as short sprints, burnouts, engine breaks and donuts, which one does not get to see often in actual F1 races. The event featured three runs by the F1 car as well as two filler shows featuring the Audi R8 LMS driven by Malaysian
former F1 driver Alex Yoong, and a Renault Megane RS driven by professional French racing driver and stunt man Frederic Johais.
