Local News: Shell Fuelsave One Litre Challenge Is Now On
Shell launches Shell Fuelsave One Litre Challenge, an experiential driving challenge which will help drivers in Singapore learn how to save fuel.
Eunice Olsen, Singapore’s Shell Fuelsave Ambassador, will lead the search for 80 everyday drivers in Singapore to participate in the Shell Fuelsave One Litre Challenge, an experiential driving challenge which will help drivers in Singapore learn how to save fuel. With the help of Shell FuelSave tips, drivers who take part in the Challenge will discover how far everyday drivers can travel with just one litre of fuel.
Eunice Olsen said, “This is a great opportunity for Singapore drivers to learn how to significantly reduce their monthly fuel bills. We all want to keep our driving costs as low as possible, so it’s great that Shell is helping to show just how easily this can be achieved by choosing the right fuel and making some small changes to your driving habits.”
Everyday drivers interested in taking part in the Challenge can register at www.shell.com.sg/fuelsavechallenge from 16 May to 6 June 2011. They will need to submit inspiring stories about what saving fuel means to them. Sixty drivers with the best entries will be invited to participate in the Qualifying Rounds of the Shell Fuelsave One Litre Challenge on 18 and 19 June 2011. The remaining twenty drivers will be recruited from Class 95’s Radio Challenge during two consecutive weeks starting 23 May 2011 to 3 June 2011. All 80 drivers will be given a $100 fuel voucher for participating in the Challenge. From these 80 drivers, only 10 will be selected to take part in the Finals on 25 June 2011.
Based on the furthest mileage clocked per one litre of Shell Fuelsave fuel during the Finals, two winners from the public challenge will be selected to be part of Singapore’s first Shell Fuelsave Team, and receive a year’s supply of Shell Fuelsave fuel worth S$5000. The remaining two team members will be chosen from a pool of 20 pre-selected local bloggers, who will be invited to undertake the Challenge separately on 25 June 2011.
In addition, the Singapore FuelSave Team will go on an all-expenses paid trip to Malaysia for a fuel economy makeover at Shell Eco-marathon Asia from 6 to 9 July 2011. Upon receiving extensive training from Shell’s Passionate Experts, a team of Shell scientists and fuel economy experts, the Shell FuelSave Teams from all across Asia will be pitted against one another.
Dawn Phang, General Manager of Shell Singapore’s Retail Sales and operations added, “Shell is passionate about helping motorists get the most out of their fuel, so recruiting a team of real drivers to become fuel savers and help inspire others to be more fuel efficient is a natural step for us. We are looking for participants from all over Singapore and I can’t wait to see the range of different entries we receive.”
Recruiting the Singapore Shell FuelSave Team is the latest part of an ongoing Shell campaign to promote fuel efficiency.
