Local News: VW Golf R hatches in Singapore
The fastest and most powerful Golf ever and the replacement for the R32 was launched at the Marina Bay circuit's pit building.
The Golf R is powered by a 2-litre turbocharged four pot making 256bhp and 350Nm, a motor that is shared with the Audi S3. 0-100km/h comes in a pretty quick 5.7 seconds while the Golf's handsome clothes have been enhanced with go-faster bits like the LED daytime running and tail lights, centrally mounted exhaust, a new grille and so on to differentiate it from lesser Golfs and the GTI.
The launch event will continue through the weekend where those who have registered to test drive the R on VW's website will be able to have a go at the R on the F1 circuit's pit straight without running foul of the law.
