Locally Made IONIQ 5 Used By The Late Pope Francis Will Be On Public Display

Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS) will exhibit the IONIQ 5 used by the late Pope Francis during his September 2024 visit — the first papal visit to Singapore and Southeast Asia in almost ten years, marking a historic moment for interfaith dialogue and community unity.
The late Pope Francis traveled across Singapore in the locally manufactured IONIQ 5, the nation’s first fully electric vehicle produced at HMGICS. His use of the EV during masses, interfaith meetings and community visits reflected his humility and dedication to sustainability and social responsibility.
HMGICS, Hyundai’s innovation hub for future mobility and EV production, underscores Singapore’s growing role in sustainable transport. The IONIQ 5 used by the late Pope Francis is now on display at Level 1 of the facility, open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 7pm.
