Lotus chief executive Michael Kimberley has indicated that the company is working on an electric sports car that will be powered by a small displacement petrol engine. The motor will be used to charge the car's batteries.

Lotus is hopeful that their planned electric sports car will have a 482 kilometer range.

There is speculation that Lotus' electric vehicle may appear at the Geneva Motor Show this coming March, but the company has not confirmed this as of yet.
