Following conversations with customers and racing enthusiasts, McLaren Singapore began working closely with McLaren Special Operations, the division of McLaren Automotive that delivers bespoke projects, to create a special model to pay homage to racing in Singapore with a special 12C Singapore Edition.

Production of the 12C Singapore Edition is limited up to 3 units only and the design of the personalised colour combination is inspired by each customer’s desire to pay tribute to McLaren’s illustrious racing history.

Singapore’s sensational and scenic night race has firmly placed the city island on the motorsports map and so it is only befitting for the 12C Singapore Edition to be launched on the very first night of the racing weekend. Proudly unveiling the car are Mr Andre Roy and Mr
Pang Cheong Yan, Group Managing Director and Managing Director of Wearnes Automotive respectively.

The key of the very first unit was presented to the customer tonight by none other than Mr Ron Dennis, Executive Chairman of McLaren Automotive. The owner was strongly influenced by the livery colours of Mika Hakkinen’s racing days. The striking Rocket Red lines, blended into a Carbon Black and Silver base, gives the first 12C Singapore Edition its stunning appearance. The customised airbrush paintwork certainly evokes racing passion and showcases the expertise and another facet of what McLaren Special Operations can do.

The next eye-catching physical enhancements are the front and rear bumpers which are inspired by the HS Edition and the GT3 race car. These bespoke components contribute to the performance and handling of the car. To further enhance its street credentials, the ultra lightweight rims feature 19” (front) and 20” (rear) diamond-cut spokes in black and the McLaren logo is printed on the underside of the Airbrake, so is visible when the car is in ‘Aero’ mode or under heavy braking.

Open the dihedral doors and emblazoned prominently on the sides of the sills are the specially-designed “SINGAPORE EDITION” branding with the head of a lion to symbolise the country. Piloting the car with the standard Alcantara steering wheel from the cossetting Harissa Red and Alcantra seats, one can sense the racing character of the 12C Singapore Edition from the enhancements of the Rocket Red finishing to the aircon vents and surrounds of the instruments panel.

Under the bonnet, the 12C Singapore Edition cars are powered by a 3.8-litre twin turbo engine that delivers an immense 600bhp and 600Nm of torque. 0-100km/h acceleration takes just 3.3 seconds before a top speed of 330km/h is achieved.

The retail price for the bespoke 12C Singapore Edition cars is available upon application. McLaren Singapore will work closely with MSO again to individualise the next two 12C Singapore Edition cars based on the customers’ personal motorsports influences. Only one car remains unspoken for.
