Motorsports: Alex Wurz to retire from professional motorsport

Alex Wurz joins Susie Wolff and Jaime Alguersuari as drivers who have decided to hang up the helmet this year. The former F1 driver currently drives for Toyota in LMP1, and will drive in his last professional race at the World Endurance Championship finale in Bahrain later this month. The 41-year-old Austrian has said that there are a few reasons for his decision, but one of them was echoes from the disappointment from retiring from the lead in Le Mans last year. Outside of motorsport, Wurz does BMX, and has done so since he was 12. He has driven for Benetton, McLaren (as a test driver) and Williams in Formula One.
