New Audi A8 to debut at AFF
The Audi Fashion Festival 2014 – a marquee event on Singapore’s fashion calendar – marks the sixth consecutive year with Audi as the title sponsor. Furthering the brand’s commitment to the fashion community and young design talents, the regional fashion design competition Audi Star Creation continues for the fifth year, kicking off the iconic fashion week in May. The theme of this year’s Audi Fashion Festival, ‘the Art of Progress,’ is a fitting parallel as we introduce the Audi A8 flagship to Singapore. The new A8 places Audi among the innovation leaders in the worldwide luxury segment, the most demanding automobile category. One great strength of the big sedan is its low weight and the key factor is in its lightweight construction. The body, except for the B-pillars, is made entirely of aluminium. An Audi Space Frame (ASF) design, it tips the scales at just 231 kilograms, roughly 40 percent less than a comparable steel construction. The ASF also makes it possible to reduce weight in many other areas, from the brakes to the fuel tank.
Refinement levels have been raised even further with extra attention placed on the accoustics. Additional noise damping measures reduce the already low interior noise level further. The trunk now has a maximum of 520 liters and can be loaded substantially better, thanks to the altered layout. The power trunk closing assist means that the entire car can be locked at the touch of a button.
