New Audi RS 3 Sportback Starts From S$396,999

New tyres and sharper chassis tuning should make this an even more driver-focused machine.

The RS 3 is currently the only RS model on Audi’s price list. Starting from S$396,999, it’s almost twice that of a base A3 Sportback S line 30 TFSI (S$219,999). No A3 buyers will be cross-shopping for its top-of-the-line sibling; the price gap is simply too vast.

But it’s comforting to realise that against all odds and taxes tagged against high-powered petrol machines in Singapore (it falls under VES band C2, like the heftier Q8), we can still buy one new today in Singapore. Love live Audi’s 5-cylinder motors - it’ll be a huge undertaking for successors to surpass it from an emotive standpoint, which is why Audi claims that this newest iteration is “a feast for the senses.”

What’s new on the outside?

The refreshed Audi RS 3 features a sportier design with a wider, flatter hexagonal Singleframe grille and bold rhombus pattern. Vertical black blades accent the side air intakes, while three openings above a full-width splitter lower the stance. Redesigned headlights include a 24-element checkered flag digital signature. And with matrix LED units, drivers can select from three additional DRL designs via the MMI display. For the first time, Daytona Grey paint in a matt finish will be offered.

Sporty luxury in the cabin

A standout is the planar lighting effect, where laser-etched rhombus patterns in the door panels light up when locking or unlocking. Details like door handles, air vents and shift paddles come in a shimmering anthracite-effect finish. Trim options include palladium grey with carbon, matte carbon, or black Dinamica. Red and green design packages add contrast stitching and coloured accents to seat belts, vents and floor mats, all bearing RS logos.

New rev counter

There’s now a new central rev counter, joining existing Sport, Performance and Runway views. Runway mode displays revs in reverse for a unique visual effect. It also shows real-time data like power, torque, g-forces, acceleration and lap times. In manual mode, a colour-changing shift indicator signals optimal gear changes. A built-in app store now supports direct app use without needing a smartphone.

0 - 100km/h in 3.8 seconds

Its highly regarded 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder engine produces 400hp and 500Nm of torque, accelerating 0–100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and reaching 290 km/h. Known for its unique 1-2-4-5-3 firing sequence and sound, the engine’s exhaust note is enhanced by a variable flap, delivering a fuller tone in dynamic and RS modes, especially with the optional RS Sport exhaust.

Reach desired drift angles faster

You know that Audi is not messing around when they have an entire paragraph dedicated to drift angles, more specifically, “evolved oversteer”. The RS 3’s updated algorithm enables easier oversteer initiation through steering input instead of relying mainly on throttle, helping drivers attain desired drifts faster.

New tyres

While Audi did not mention the exact brand and specs for these rubbers, they are confident that this new standard C-rated tyres will offer better comfort, stronger lateral support and reliable grip on dry and wet surfaces. Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R semi-slick tyres are still available as an option.
