Participants, consisting of students, staff as well as alumni from the NUS community, were required to drive to selected destinations spanning the whole of Singapore, and complete challenges in their teams of four. Associate Prof Tan Teck Koon, Dean of Students, flagged off the event from Kent Vale car park in NUS.

Despite the rainy start to the event, the enthusiasm among the participants was evident right from the start, with many teams scrambling to solve the clues that they were handed as soon as they had been briefed. Each team had to complete 14 challenges in total.

In their quest to chalk up points, participants had to brave the temperatures and ski down the snow filled slopes of Snow City, throw their phobia for heights aside and ride on the G-Max reverse bungee, and put their knowledge of history to the test at Reflections at Bukit Chandu, among other challenges. The highlights of the event though were no doubt the Mitsubishi vehicular challenges that the participants had to partake in. In these challenges, competitors had to utilise the Mitsubishi cars provided, such as the Colt, Triton and Lancer EX to complete the tasks that they were assigned.

The event drew to a close with a dinner cum prize presentation ceremony at Orchidville. The winners of the top prize, Team "Fei Long", walked away with $800 in cash, Roar oil change vouchers, Binter tire vouchers and Deuter bags. The second and third places went to Team "Kowloon", and Team "Speed Racers" respectively.

Organised by NUS Motoring Club and sponsored by Cycle & Carriage Automotive Pte Ltd, the NUS-Mitsubishi Challenge attracted an overwhelming response when registration was conducted on campus in mid-August. The 70 team slots made available for sign up were filled up well before the registration window closed.
