The hot sticky summer temperatures have a firm hold across much of Europe, leading to a collective favorite pastime: finding ways to cool down. Opel has the perfect solution when driving as the mercury rises: In addition to standard air conditioning, Opel offers the premium driver’s seat in leather trim with seat ventilation that carries the Action for Healthy Backs (AGR) seal of approval for the top-of-the-line Insignia.

A fine flow of air wicks away the moisture produced by sweat from the contact points between the body and seat, creating a refreshing cooling effect without any unpleasant drafts. The seat ventilation is part of the premium package consisting of a premium driver’s seat with AGR seal of approval and perforated leather trim in black or beige. The package costs 2,100 euros for the Sport and Innovation equipment versions.

Opel also offers the AGR certified driver’s seat without ventilation from just 390 euros (RRP incl. VAT in Germany). When coupled with a passenger seat, it costs just 295 euros more. The prices also apply to the Astra and the new Meriva, making these back-friendly seats unique in the compact and minivan segments. The ergonomic driver’s seat comes standard in the Insignia Sport and Astra Sport.

The award-winning seats feature a back-friendly base structure that can be adjusted individually to the natural curvature of the spine by the electropneumatically-controlled 4-way lumbar support integrated in the seat back. Extra long, best-in-class adjustment travel distances – 270 millimeters forwards/backwards and 65 millimeters up/down on the Insignia – as well as independent tilt adjustment of the seat cushion and back ensure the optimum seating position. The pull-out seat cushion offers excellent thigh support and seat-pressure distribution. To reduce the danger of whiplash in a rear-end collision, driver and front passenger seats are equipped with active head restraints that are height and tilt-adjustable.

Even without seat ventilation, Opel drivers do not have to face the heat alone. A comfortable interior temperature is ensured through air conditioning that is standard in many model variants. The two-zone Automatic Climate Control with separate temperature controls for driver and passenger are optionally available in the Insignia, Astra and Meriva – so there are no arguments about the perfect temperature while inside the car.
