Peugeot Onyx Concept to appear in the Goodwood Festival of Speed

Peugeot announced an ultimate experience 'money-can't-buy' prize with two tickets for the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the chance to ride as a passenger in the Peugeot Onyx Concept Car.  This will be the first public dynamic demonstration of the Onyx at this automotive event (now in its 20th Anniversary).  The Event takes place on Saturday, 13th July this year. Most of the concept cars are usually modelled for static appreciation, but the Peugeot Onyx breaks that tradition with outstanding authenticity, innovative use of materials in its construction and brilliant performance. Inside the carbon fiber exterior is a mid-mounted 3.7 litre V8 HDi FAP diesel-electric hybrid power unit developed with the proficiency of Peugeot Sport and the experience acquired from racetracks all over the world.  NACA ducts in the roofline supply the intake for the diesel V8 to transmit 600bhp to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox.

Intelligent Hybrid4 technology recovers kinetic energy stored in lithium ion batteries, to be redeployed to enhance acceleration which boosts the power by 80bhp giving the Onyx less than 2kg per horsepower. This means that the Onyx achieves high performance without altering the purity and elegance of its exterior style.

The well fashioned exterior shows superb craftsmanship. The wings and doors are of pure copper sheet, polished to a mirror finish and left 'unprotected' so that over time the appearance will gain a patina; expect it to go green!
