Porsche unveils the new 911 Turbo!

After months of spy shots of the new 2014 991 Porsche 911 Turbo undergoing testing at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, Stuttgart finally lifts the veil off one of their most iconic 911s. 40 years since the first Turbo made its debut at the 1973 Frankfurt Motorshow, we're witnessing the birth of yet another generation with even more staggering performance than the last.  The new Turbo brings muscle to the already gorgeous body contours of the current generation 911. It is the widest of the 911 range and is even 28mm wider than the Carrera 4 models. Other differentiating characteristics include two-tone forged 20-inch wheels - on the Porsche 911 Turbo S they have hub wheel locks. The Turbo S is also making its appearance with new full-LED headlights that feature four-point daytime running lights and dynamic, camera-based main beam control, which can be ordered as an option for the 911 Turbo.

Power is derived from a 3.8-litre flat six with twin turbochargers that are more powerful and fuel efficient than the generation it replaces. The Turbo produces 514bhp while the Turbo S version will have 552bhp.

The car will be reined in by Porsche's excellent dual clutch PDK transmission. The new Turbo despatches the century sprint in a brisk 3.2 seconds with the optional Sports Chrono package while the Turbo S claims 3.1 seconds. Top speed is 317kmh.

The new Porsche will feature new technologies like rear axle steering that can vary the steering angle of the rear wheels by as much as 2.8 degrees depending on the driving speed. This gives the car tremendous stability in the bends.
