Proton is making its Singapore comeback after 10 years, launching its first EV, the e.MAS 7, with VINCAR Group as the official distributor.

At the e.MAS 7 launch in KL last year, Proton named VINCAR Group its authorised distributor in Singapore. The flagship showroom at 24 Leng Kee Road opened in August.

For the Singapore market, it will be offered in Prime (S$175,988 with COE) and Premium (S$179,988 with COE) variants, with six paint options and two interior colours.

The Proton e.MAS 7 is a spacious, SUV-style EV inspired by the Malayan tiger, featuring a bold silhouette, tiger-eye headlights, C-shaped "whisker" lights, flowing body lines and 3D laser-engraved taillights with 274 LEDs. With a 2,750mm wheelbase, 33 storage spaces, ventilated and fully reclinable front seats, adjustable rear seats with 5-layer cushions, a sunroof and an electric rear tailgate on the Premium trim, its a combination that blends both comfort and advanced tech.

Given its links to Geely (Geely Holdings is Proton’s strategic partner and minority shareholder), it comes as no surprise that it shares know-how and components with the Geely Galaxy E5. Both are built on Geely's Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture (GEA).

Despite its SUV-ish proportions, drag coefficient is kept to a minimum (0.275Cd). Its 12-in-1 electric drive produces 160kW and 320Nm, paired with a 49.52kWh battery (345km WLTP range) for the Prime variant and a 60.22kWh battery (410km WLTP range) for the Premium. Both use Geely’s “Aegis” short blade batteries, offering high energy density, up to 3,500 cycles, and a projected 1,000,000km lifespan.

AC (11kW) and DC charging are present. For DC, you’ll be getting up to 80kW for Prime and 100kW for Premium - reaching 30 - 80% in 20 minutes. It features front MacPherson struts, rear multilink suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and a 5.4m turning radius. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.

It’s powered by Geely’s first in-house 7nm automotive chip and the Flyme Auto infotainment system with the "Hello, Proton" voice assistant. It features a 15.4-inch touchscreen, 10.2-inch instrument panel and 13.8-inch windshield HUD, with wireless Apple CarPlay available and Android Auto expected via OTA (over-the-air) by end 2025. A 16-speaker Flyme Sound system runs the audio show.
