Schumacher wins Monza GP and retiring end of season

Michael Schumacher has recorded his 90th career Grand Prix win at Monza. With Fernando Alonso working his way up to third position only to suffer an engine failure on lap 44, Schumacher has slashed Alonso’s advantage from ten points to just two.

[U]It's official: Schumi to retire[/U]

The 37-year-old German, close to tears, confirmed his decision in a heart-rending statement during the post-race press conference at Monza.

"To make it short, this is going to be my last Monza race. At the end of this year I have decided together with the team that I’m going to retire from racing," he said.
