SG: 9 caught for drink-driving

9 motorists were caught last Friday morning for driving under the influence of alcohol in a raid in the Geylang area. The operation, which involved the Police Department as well as the SCDF, nabbed 87 suspects. They raided shophouses, coffee shops and back-alleys in the vicinity of Geylang, whilst also setting up road blocks. A total of 25 motorists were pulled over and tested for alcohol consumption at road blocks. 9 of the motorists, which are all men aged between 25 and 57, were arrested for drink driving, with the highest Breath Evidential Analyser test result registering 56 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, slightly less than twice that of the legal limit which is more than the prescribed legal limit of 35 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.
