SG: CCTV ineffective at deterring illegal parking

The LTA has identified 30 illegal parking hot spots, and already has installed and switched on 10 CCTV cameras in 10 of the areas. LTA expected the amount of offenders to dramatically drop as a result of the deterrence, but unfortunately, they didn’t have the desired effect. Drivers were still found in breech of the law even though the cameras were in operation. One reason for parking illegally is that carparks were full, and the nearest empty ones are quite a distance away. Another would be the small signs installed to warn the drivers. LTA will continue to monitor the situation. Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
