SG: Driver jailed for mischief after run in with another motorist

Out of rage, van driver noticed Arivalakan Narayanan Kanapathy, 55 tapped the windscreen of 27 year old Mr Mervyn Lau Jun Ming’s car, causing it to crack. Arivalakan Narayan Kanapathy was tailgating and flashing his headlights at Mr Lau’s car along Bishan Road. Mr Lau then recalled cutting into Arivalakan's lane, although he claims to have signalled his intention before actually cutting into Arivalakan’s lane. Displeased, Arivalakan followed the car as he drove into the carpark. He parked his van in front of Mr Lau's car at Block 117, Bishan Street 12 before getting out and tapping the front windscreen of the car out of rage. The ring on his finger caused the windscreen to crack. Arivalakan apologised and offered compensation, but Mr Lau decided that calling the police would be a better way to resolve the issue; he called the cops at 12:06am on 1st May 2011.
