SG: Driver pleads guilty for causing death

A former bus driver has pleaded guilty to causing the a prominent professor’s wife’s death. She was killed when the bus he was piloted ploughed her down at a pedestrian crossing in Clementi on the 23rd of April 2013. The driver, 48 year old Chan Mun Hing, was initially sentenced to a more severe charge of driving rashly which resulted in the death of Madam Zhang Huirui. For the offence, her could have been charged to a five year jail sentence or fined or both. Chan will be sentenced on the 28th of Feburary, which may see him face a jail term of up to 2 years.
