SG: Driver resentenced to serve a jail term after causing fatal accident

67 year old Mr Sin San Wah was struck by a car driven by Mr Yew Foo along the slip road from Lower Delta Road to Jalan Bukit Merah. The lower court has already fined Yew Foo $10,000 for the fatal crash and $2,500 for drink driving, with a 2 year driving ban. He was resentenced when Deputy Public Prosecutor, Mark Tay, thought that the district judge's sentence was too light, since Yew Foo's actions were beyond negligence; despite being drunk, he chose to drive, risking and disregarding the safety of other road users. Justice Chan Seng Onn, allowed the prosecution's appeal to sentence Wong Yew Foo to a four month jail term on Wong Yew Foo, and increasing his driving ban from 2 to 6 years.
