SG: Drivers are allowed to use mobile devices at red lights

Many have been confused by the recent changes to the Road Traffic Act that became law on the 8th of September last year. A couple of weeks later, the LTA further added that it will be illegal for a driver to even hold an electronic device when driving from the 1st of February 2015 onwards. Now though, the Commander of Traffic Police, Assistant Commissioner Sam Tee, has officially cleared up the confusion, and he said that it is perfectly legal for drivers to use their mobile devices when the vehicle is stationary. He also added that whilst it may be legal officially, it certainly is not advisable, as it can be a major distraction for the driver. Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
