SG: Improvements to 25 Services

SG: Improvements to 25 Services

A total of 339 out of the 550 Government-funded buses under the BSEP scheme would be rolled out to improve 125 existing services, and 18 new services. These measures, introduced in late March 2014, should see a reduction in crowding, waiting times, and an improvement in connectivity for commuters. On average, peak hour loadings have been improved, and intervals have dropped 1 to 5 minutes on average. These aren’t the only improvements. To add on to the 18 new services, seven City Direct Services have been added to the network courtesy of private operators. Under the Peak Period Short Service scheme, private operators will operate routes that overlap stretches of a public service’s route in denser areas, to reduce the strain on the public buses. 912P, one of the routes on this scheme, will begin operation to serve residents in Woodlands during weekday peak periods. The route will start from Woodlands Regional Interchange, and ovelay existing Bus Service 912 and ply Woodlands Avenue 5, Woodlands Avenue 2, Woodlands Avenue 1 and loop at Woodlands Street 41, before going back to the bus interchange. The rest of the services in the scheme will be rolled out later this year.Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
