SG: Lorry driver arrested for reckless driving

On Monday night at around 9:10pm, 42-year old Mr Ramli Akbar was sending shipyard workers home when he lost control of the lorry he was driving, swerving across four lanes, mounting a curb, before the lorry hit a tree. The force of the impact caused the vehicle to tip on its side and skidded for roughly three metres before it came to a rest after piling into a stationary car. The driver was found with a pill on him, which was subsequently sent to the Central Narcotics Bureau for testing. An Indian worker in his 30s, was transferred to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital where he was treated for a broken finger. The others onboard the vehicle at the time suffered from minor cuts and bruises.
