SG: LTA conducts trial of new signage

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is seeking feedback on a series of proposed senior-friendly enhancements to the public transport system. The alterations include the redesigning of the directional signs located at MRT stations and bus interchanges, and the installation of passenger information displays onboard buses. On top of that, signage of the various MRT lines have been colour-coded, and the fonts enlarged to make reading them easier. It is hoped that these enhancements will help seniors find their way more easily. To test the effectiveness of these enhancements, about 30 seniors were invited to a focus group discussion session with Senior Minister of State for Finance and Transport, Mrs Josephine Teo. The bulk of the 30 seniors who took part in this test believed that the redesigned signage was indeed more helpful in their navigation, for previously, they would have felt disoriented finding their way within and between transport hubs such as train stations and bus interchanges.
