SG: More severe trauma from traffic accidents

Based on reports from 2 Singapore hospitals, those that are involved in road traffic accidents have sustained more severe injuries as compared to several years ago. Both Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital are receving an increasing number of badly hurt patients. Representatives from both hospitals point to an increase in speeding, drink driving and a larger population of heavy vehicles as the cause of the accidents. KTPH recorded 161 major trauma cases in 2011, and in that figure, about 40% involved a traffic accident of some sort. The figure went up to almost 100 road traffic accident patients.
