SG: No charge to use public transport services on 9th August

On the 9th of August this year, all bus and train services will be free-of-charge from the start to the end of the day. Commuters do not have to tap in or out onboard any bus service operated by SBS Transit and SMRT, regardless of whether it is a basic service or not. The faregates at MRT stations will also be opened to allow commuters to utilise the rail network at no charge. It is hoped that the plans will spur more to travel islandwide to attend Singapore’s 50th birthday celebrations. Pictures used for illustration purposes only.
