SG: PIE crash injures 5
2 lorries collided on the PIE on the 27th of August at 5:20pm, resulting in injuries to 5 onboard the 2 vehicles. Upon receiving the distress call, the SCDF dispatched two fire engines, three ambulances and three support vehicles to the accident scene. The driver for one of the lorries was stuck in the managled wreckage and had to be freed using a hydraulic spreader. He sustained serious injuries and has been brought to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and was conscious. A child sustained serious injuries in the crash as well, and was conveyed to to KK Hospital. 3 other adults suffered minor injuries. There were close to 12 other vehicles on scene with varying degrees of damage, with eye witnesses claiming at least 14 vehicles were involved in the collision.

SG: Better accessibility during SG GP
Singapore will host the Grand Prix from the 19 to 21 September 2014, and several roads will be closed for the event. The affected roads will be closed over a six day period, which will begin at 12.01am, 17 September (Wednesday), and be reopened at 5.30am, 23 September (Tuesday).
Several roads will be opened during periods where there isn’t a race session, and there will be single lane roads for better accessibility into the shopping malls at the vicinity. Temporary signs and traffic wardens would be deployed to better help direct traffic. Train and bus services will be extended to cope with the increased demand as well.

The annual Shell Traffic Games, which aims to reinforce the importance of fostering road safety awareness amongst children through a fun and interactive learning environment, extended the platform to include a distracted road usage experience that simulated the dangers of mobile phone usage while on the road.
Organized by Shell, in conjunction with the Singapore Traffic Police and the Singapore Road Safety Council, the experience aimed to demonstrate the potential hazards of distracted road usage based on actions that would distract the road user from concentrating fully on the road, which includes the use of mobile phones and navigational equipment.
