23 year old Jamal Haneef Kader Sultan was the sole survivor of a fatal car crash that saw his friends lose their lives. Based on information he supplied to the coroner during the inquiry, the driver of the car, 24-year old driver, Rammohan Subash Nair, had drunk as much as 10 plastic cups of alcohol before hopping behind the wheel. The Civic eventually mounted a kerb, flipped in mid air, hitting several objects, before coming to a halt. As the rear passengers were not buckled up, they were flung out of the vehicle in the crash. Rammohan was cut free from the wreck and arrested for suspected drink driving. He died the following day at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Jamal, was lucky enough to survive, for he was wearing his seat belt and crouched when he realised they were about to crash. The car was also found with punctured right tyres.
