SG: Winning Couples Set New Shell FuelSave Challenge Record in Singapore

Shell yesterday announced the results of the Shell FuelSave Challenge 2013.  Two winning couples, Mr. Roy Lee, 33, and Ms. Karrin Lim, 32, as well as Mr. Ferdinand Lai and Ms. Annette Phay, both 27, set the new Shell FuelSave Challenge record for Singapore at 20.8 km/l and 20.5 km/l respectively breaking the previous record of 19.3 km/l set in 2011. The Challenge, a real life driving challenge designed to mirror everyday journeys, was tackled by over 35 couples in Singapore on 17 and 18 August 2013 to show how simple changes to driving habits, when paired with the right fuel, can make a difference in saving fuel for the whole family.  The Challenge had participants competing for the highest fuel efficiency achieved on a Volkswagen Jetta Sport 1.4 TSI.

The top two winners this year put their fuel-efficient driving habits into practice, emerging with fuel efficiency scores of 20.8 km/l and 20.5 km/l on 17 and 18 August respectively. The winners walked away with S$2,000 worth of Shell fuel vouchers each.

Mr. Roy Lee and Ms. Karrin Lim, the winning couple who achieved 20.8 km/l this year, said: “We wanted to participate in the Shell FuelSave Challenge 2013 because we wanted to learn more from Shell as they are the experts in fuel efficiency. Mr. Ferdinand Lai and Ms. Annette Phay, the other winning pair of the Challenge, said: “Using the Jetta Sport and driving it for the first time, we are glad to have won this competition. I have been using Shell for the past years as I believe that it gives me the most mileage.
