smart #5’s 800-volt Platform Has An Ultra-Fast Charging Capability Of Up To 400kW

Cycle & Carriage and smart Automobile has unveiled the smart #5, the brand’s first mid-size SUV. Powered by an 800-volt platform (Premium trim) for longer range and ultra-fast charging, it marks the most adaptable vehicle in smart’s lineup to date. If you’re after something more compact, smart’s already got you covered with the #1 and #3.

The smart #5 features a spacious interior with a 2,900mm wheelbase, 4,695mm overall length, 34 storage compartments, a 72-litre frunk and up to 1,530 litres of rear cargo space. Seats are fully adjustable for resting or sleeping, with premium leather upholstery, heated rear seats, adjustable seatbacks, electric sunshields, and a “First Class” comfort mode. Refined touches like oak wood trim, curved design elements and 256-color ambient lighting create a modern, luxurious cabin.

Inside, you’ll be greeted by a 25.6-inch AR head-up display, a 10.3-inch Ultra HD instrument cluster and two 13-inch AMOLED 2.5K screens. Voice-controlled intelligent avatars, including Leo the lion, allow drivers to manage media, navigation, climate and vehicle settings. Powered by an AMD V2000 chip and Unreal Engine-based OS, the system ensures smooth, responsive operation. The cabin also boasts a 20-speaker Sennheiser Signature Sound System with 1,190W output and ambient lighting synchronised with music.

The smart #5 is smart’s first EV on an 800-volt platform, equipped with a 100kWh battery that delivers up to 590km of WLTP range. It supports ultra-fast 400kW charging, achieving 70% in 15 minutes, and remains compatible with existing 400-volt fast chargers in Singapore.

The smart #5 launches in Singapore in two trims: the #5 Pro, featuring a 76kWh 400-volt LFP battery with comfort features, panoramic roof, connectivity and driver-assist systems, and the #5 Premium, with a 100kWh 800-volt NCM battery, offering upgraded comfort, enhanced ambient lighting, a 20-speaker Sennheiser audio system, ventilated seats and faster charging. The Premium trim is the one early tech adopters should look out for.
