SPOT Robot Coding Workshop Launched By HMGICS
Find out how technology like SPOT supports real-world applications.

Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS) has rolled out the SPOT Robot Coding Workshop, designed for children aged 6–12 to learn robotics and coding. It follows the Smart Food Lab launched a couple of months ago for younger kids, expanding HMGICS’ educational efforts by giving older children a chance to see how coding brings robots like SPOT to life in real-world applications.

SPOT, a four-legged robot developed by Boston Dynamics, works at HMGICS by autonomously capturing images on the production floor to support AI-driven quality and fastening checks. By handling repetitive and hazardous tasks, it improves safety and consistency while advancing Hyundai Motor Group’s goal of a smarter, human-centered manufacturing ecosystem powered by robotics and automation.

The 90-minute workshop lets children design and code a SPOT-inspired mini robot, showing how simple commands help complete everyday tasks.

From 13 September 2025, it will run every Saturday and Sunday at 10:00am and 4:00pm, with a maximum of eight participants per session. Each slot costs S$25, and all proceeds will go to the President’s Challenge.

Spaces for the SPOT Robot Coding Workshop are limited, so it’s advisable to register as early as possible. The workshop is part of HMGICS’ broader Discovery Tour, which also offers experiences such as a VR factory tour, Skytrack rides and the Smart Farm’s seed-to-table journey.
